The Idea

For our collaboration with Grupo Hunana, a leading restaurant chain in Mexico, we were tasked with creating a playful and thematic Fake Out-of-Home (FOOH) ad for Alma Cocina de México, one of their most exclusive restaurants located in Los Angeles. The ad was intended for Instagram, designed as a reel to promote the restaurant during the spring season.

The client wanted the ad to highlight both Mexican culture and springtime festivities, incorporating recognizable symbols like a Mariachi hat and Easter elements such as eggs and flowers. Our challenge was to blend these distinct themes into one seamless and engaging visual, while keeping it lighthearted and fun.

The Process

This time, the client captured the footage with a drone, offering a dynamic aerial view of the restaurant that provided a sense of scale and gave us a perfect foundation to integrate digital elements. The footage was then tracked, ensuring the digital models would interact naturally with the moving camera and real-world environment.

We began by modeling the central element of the reel: a Mariachi hat with a quirky twist— it featured bunny ears as a nod to both Easter and the playful spirit of the spring season. Next, we designed and textured colorful Easter eggs and vibrant spring flowers to complement the overall theme and to bring a festive, celebratory feel to the ad. Every detail, from the intricate texture of the hat to the vivid colors of the flowers, was meticulously crafted to ensure a polished and lively final product.

Once the modeling and texturing were complete, we animated the Mariachi hat with bunny ears to fall gently from the sky, humorously landing on top of the restaurant building. This integration added a whimsical touch, reflecting the fun and approachable personality of Alma Cocina de México.
