Mr.L
Date: Marzo 2025

The Idea

Mr. L is the latest addition to the Componente Studio universe—a character we created as the face of this year’s edition of Lavadora Fest. But he represents more than just a festival mascot.

Designing characters within the studio has become a way for us to express how we work: collaboratively, playfully, and with every member bringing their voice to the process. Mr. L is a reflection of that spirit. From concept sketches and color studies to modeling, texturing, animation, and narrative development, he embodies the creative dialogue that fuels our practice.

The Process

Mr. L was born from a playful idea: what if the mischievous force behind missing socks and lost laundry actually lived inside a washing machine? That was the spark. His personality isn’t expressed through dialogue or facial features—he has no mouth, no traditional expressions. Instead, everything comes through in how he moves, how he dresses, and in the attitude carried by his oversized ears and expressive eyes.

The design started with a sketch, then moved into Blender for modeling. We textured him in Substance Painter and brought him back into Blender for animation. Every piece—from his outfits and accessories to the environments he inhabits—was designed and built in-house.

His wardrobe changes depending on the context, making him both cool and versatile. To complement his 3D presence, we also experimented with mix-media animations—2D loops and motion graphics integrated into posters and flyers, expanding Mr. L’s world into a hybrid visual playground.

Ultimately, Mr. L became more than a character for the event—he became an icon for Componente Studio itself, appearing across visuals, merch, promo materials, and even live projections during Lavadora Fest II.

The Finished Product

Mr. L began as a character for a single event, but quickly grew into something bigger—a symbol of the way we create, collaborate, and play.

He represents a turning point for us: the moment when our internal world expanded into something tangible and shareable. Designing Mr. L allowed us to push our technical and artistic skills, while also expressing our personality as a studio.

From merch drops to motion graphics, from LED screens to flyers, Mr. L was everywhere—and the audience loved him. But more importantly, so did we. He’s a reminder that the stories we tell can start small and end up defining who we are.
