Skateboard Creatures

The Idea

The Skateboard Creatures inhabit an alternate universe where they rule the skies, the land, and the water. They are hybrid, enigmatic beings that exist in a perpetual loop—detached from the logic of our world, yet entirely coherent within their own. This series explores the bizarre and the cartoonish, evoking a sense of familiar strangeness. The result is a visual ecosystem that invites contemplation, laughter, and a touch of discomfort, all framed within an absurd yet delicate aesthetic.

The Process

The project was developed entirely from scratch. Each creature was modeled, textured, and rigged in 3D, with attention given to both functional structure and visual character. From there, their movements were conceptualized, creating choreographies that emphasize each creature’s personality and environment. The animations were built as closed loops, allowing repetition to become a form of expression.

The scenes were crafted to support the narrative of this universe—floating atmospheres, surreal landscapes, and carefully balanced compositions. For the sound design, instrumental fragments from Radiohead, Pescado Rabioso, and Rex Orange County were used and altered to create an audio atmosphere that feels out of place, yet oddly in harmony with the visuals. The sound contributes to the duality between the unsettling and the beautiful that defines the spirit of the project.
