SONAR X AIDO

The Idea

When AIDO, a consulting agency, approached us to create a 3D render video for SONAR, we knew we had to craft something that not only captured the brand's identity but also reflected the peaceful, innovative environment of their studio on the island of Sardinia. SONAR, a music studio focused on movie scoring, recording, mixing, mastering, and music retreats, is a sanctuary for musical creativity, surrounded by the tranquil beauty of the Mediterranean. The studio is a space where technology meets artistry, offering cutting-edge recording equipment and an atmosphere that fosters innovation.

Drawing from this concept of escape, creativity, and innovation, we crafted a video that visually represented the flow and movement of sound through the metaphor of cables. The video would lead viewers through various dynamic compositions of sound cables, ultimately revealing the SONAR logo. The aim was to capture the fluidity of music production in a calm, nature-inspired aesthetic, tying the brand’s visual identity to its musical mission.

The Process

We began the project by working closely with AIDO, using the mood board and visual references they provided to ensure that our video aligned with SONAR’s aesthetic. The mood board focused on a minimalist, nature-inspired design that reflected the peaceful isolation of Sardinia. SONAR’s branding is built around the contrast between cutting-edge musical technology and the calm of nature, so we sought to capture this balance in the video.

The video was divided into a series of scenes, each one focused on showcasing the graceful movement of sound cables as a metaphor for the flow of music. The process followed several key stages:

Still Image Creation – Our first step was to create still images of the sound cables and their plugs, which formed the foundation for the animated sequences. At this stage, we focused on designing the cables and ensuring that their shapes, positions, and compositions reflected the brand’s sleek yet organic aesthetic. Each image was composed with attention to detail, making sure they aligned with SONAR’s identity and the tranquil yet high-tech mood.

Scene Animation Development – Once the stills were approved, we fully developed the animated scenes. The cables came to life, moving fluidly to reflect the motion and rhythm of sound. Our goal was to mimic the feel of music flowing through space, with the cables weaving, stretching, and coiling across the screen in different patterns, visually representing sound and connection.

Refining Animation & Final Compositions – After developing the animations, we refined the movement to ensure the transitions between scenes felt seamless and natural. Each scene was meticulously composed, balancing dynamic movement with minimalistic design to keep the focus on the cables' graceful forms and movements.

Lighting and Texturing – Finally, we added the finishing touches with detailed lighting and texturing. The cables were given smooth, matte textures, while the metal connectors were polished to a high shine, adding a striking contrast. The lighting was crucial in highlighting the curves and surfaces of the cables, creating depth and dimension that enhanced the overall realism. In the final output, this contrast between matte and metallic textures brings the visuals to life.

The video concludes with a smooth reveal of the SONAR logo, tying together the entire concept—where innovation and creativity flow seamlessly, just as the cables move across the screen.
